If you are a prospective employer, I am fortunate to be working with a group of highly motivated and talented students, so please contact me!

Herbert H. Tsang is Professor of Computing Science & Mathematics at Trinity Western University and Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University. He directs the Applied Research Lab and his research focus is on applying computational technologies to solve real-world problems. His ongoing interest is in computational intelligence, bioinformatics, mobile computing, and scientific visualization.

With his students and collaborators, Dr Tsang’s research is performed under a highly collaborative team environment with members coming from a variety of backgrounds, such as engineers, computer scientists, molecular biologists, chemists, bioinformaticians, musicians etc. They all work closely together in a very effective manner to solve scientific problems and seek a new understanding of the world around us.

Dr Tsang received grants from all three Canadian Government research funding agencies: the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Also, Professor Tsang received support from M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust and Mitacs.

Currently, Dr Tsang is Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Senior Member of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Tsang is serving as a Mentor for current members-in-training, applicants, or other professional members at Engineers and Geoscientists of BC. Tsang is serving as a guest editor for the Security Informatics journal and reviewer for numerous publications (IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, and OUP Bioinformatics) and granting agencies (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and Estonian Research Council).
