Professor Herbert H. Tsang's research focus is in applying computational techniques and technologies to solve real-world problems. His ongoing interest is in computational intelligence, bioinformatics, and scientific visualization. With his students and collaborators, Dr. Tsang’s research is performed under a highly collaborative team environment with members coming from a variety of backgrounds, such as engineers, computer scientists, molecular biologists, chemists, bioinformaticians, musicians etc. They all work closely together in a very effective manner to not only solve scientific problems but also seek new understanding to the world around us. Dr. Tsang's research has been supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Mitacs. Dr. Tsang is a Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Senior Member of ACM, and a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the province of British Columbia, Canada.
